Dr. Kelly Nelson grew up in Pittsburgh, but moved to the Seattle area while she was still in elementary school. She spent her adolescence in Bellevue, WA, heading to the University of Washington for her undergraduate degree, where she met her husband, Jake.
While she majored in Spanish, she always knew that she wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps by pursuing a career in medicine. During her last year of her undergraduate studies, she accompanied her mother and some of her classmates on a medical mission to Panama. She was pulled to translate for one of the Panamanian dentists, and while she watched him perform extractions and other procedures, something clicked. She realized that dentistry encompassed everything she was looking for in a career: helping people, getting to know their stories, and making an impact on her community. Dr. Kelly always says, “I think dentistry found me.”
She began shadowing dental professionals, and even worked as a dental assistant for a few years to immerse herself in the world of dentistry. Dr. Kelly earned her Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry from the Western University of Health Sciences, where she was an active participant in various leadership roles.
Fast-forward to today, and Kelly Nelson DMD is now proud to be providing exceptional care at her own West Seattle practice.
When she’s not in the office, she likes to travel with her husband, as well as spend time with her friends and two English Springer Spaniels, Pepper and Gunner. Dr. Kelly also enjoys reading, baking, crochet, biking, and downhill skiing in the winter. Recently, she’s been practicing her swing and getting into playing golf with her husband and her parents.

When you walk through our doors, you’ll be greeted by our welcoming team, and you’ll fill out any necessary paperwork if you haven’t already done so. Once we get you checked in, you’ll head back to take any needed x-rays before we lead you to one of our treatment rooms, where you'll meet Dr. Kelly. She’ll take some time to get to know you and your smile goals, then perform a comprehensive oral exam and review your x-rays. Once she has gotten a complete view of your oral health, she’ll review her findings with you, and together you’ll decide on a treatment plan that fits your needs, budget, and lifestyle. We will then clean, floss, and polish your teeth, and schedule your next visit!
